Celebrating ACM's 2019 & 2020 Award Recipients: ACM Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award

The surge of the COVID-19 delta variant, international travel restrictions and restrictions on indoor gatherings forced ACM to cancel its Awards Banquet planned for October 23, 2021.
We continue our series of emails containing videos highlighting the achievements of the 2019 and 2020 Award recipients that were prepared for the Banquet.

The Karlstrom Award is presented annually to an outstanding educator who is appointed to a recognized educational baccalaureate institution; recognized for advancing new teaching methodologies; effecting new curriculum development or expansion in computer science and engineering; or making a significant contribution to ACM’s educational mission. Those teachers with ten years or less experience are given special consideration. The Karlstrom Award is accompanied by a prize of $10,000. Financial support is provided by Pearson Education.
2019 Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award
The 2019 Karl V. Karlstrom Award is presented to Mordechai (Moti) Ben-Ari for his pioneering textbooks, software tools and research on learning programming, concurrent programming, program visualization, logic, programming language and robotics, spanning four decades and aimed at both novices and advanced students in several subfields of computing. |

2020 Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award
Andrew McGettrick receives the 2020 Karl V. Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award for his scholarship and tireless volunteer work and contributions, which have fundamentally improved rigorous computer science as a field of professional practice and as an academic pursuit. |
