Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2024 with ACM For Asian American Pacific Islander Month, ACM recognizes the achievements and efforts of the AAPI community in the computing field. ACM will highlight 2023 ACM Fellows recipients whose groundbreaking contributions have helped improve computing. Elaine Shi is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of Carnegie Mellon University. She was named an ACM Fellow for her contributions to the scientific foundation of oblivious computation and decentralized blockchains. Xin Luna Dong is a Principal Scientist at Meta Reality Labs, leading the ML efforts in building an intelligent personal assistant. She was named an ACM Fellow for her contributions to knowledge graph construction and data. Jianfeng Gao is Distinguished Scientist and Vice President at Microsoft. He was named an ACM Fellow for his contributions to machine learning for web search, natural language processing, and conversational systems. Kwan-Liu Ma is a Professor at the University of California-Davis, where he directs VIDI Labs and UC Davis Center of Excellence for Visualization. He was named an ACM Fellow for his contributions to and leadership in large-scale data visualization research. Manik Varma is a Distinguished Scientist and Vice President at Microsoft Research India, where he leads the Machine Learning and AI research group. He was named an ACM Fellow for his contributions to machine learning and its applications. Yingying Chen is a Professor and Department Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers University. She was named an ACM Fellow for her contributions to the design and application of mobile sensing and mobile security systems. Wenjing Lou is a W.C. English Endowed Professor at Virginia Tech.
