ACM Publishes First Issues of Proceedings of the ACM on Management of Data

Algorithms, Database Management Systems, and Engineering of Data Among Topics to Be Covered

New York, NY, July 19, 2023 – ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, has recently published the first two issues of Proceedings of the ACM on Management of Data (PACMMOD), a new peer-reviewed journal. Issued quarterly,PACMMOD publishes original research papers on data management, data engineering, and data science. The journal will feature articles on leveraging statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods to assist with data analysis presented from global data experts from academia, as well as practitioners working in public or private settings.

PACMMOD  takes a holistic view on the field and seeks contributions on original data management that address data challenges at various stages of the data lifecycle, from modeling, acquisition, and integrations to indexing, querying, analysis, and interpretation. For example, the editors welcome papers that are focused on data-intensive components of data science and that solve problems such as data curation and optimization, systems, and storage.

“Our understanding of data is reshaping technology and society in so many ways,” explained PACMMOD Editor-in-Chief Divyakant Agrawal, Professor at University of California at Santa Barbara. “While there are other journals focused on data management, we envision PACMMOD as the first journal that fully encompasses the breadth and depth of recent research in our field. For example, our current issue includes 76 research track articles, as well as several peer-reviewed industrial track papers. We encourage researchers to submit to PACMMOD and be part of the community we are building around this publication.”

In addition to EIC Agrawal, the PACMMOD editorial team is drawn from countries around the world including Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Qatar, Switzerland, and the United States. The editorial board also includes two Managing Editors, five Advisory Board Members, 33 Associate Editors (drawn from leading companies and academic institutions), and three Information Directors.

ACM publishes more than 60 scholarly peer-reviewed journals in dozens of computing and information technology disciplines. Available in print and online, ACM's high-impact journals constitute a vast and comprehensive archive of computing innovation, covering emerging and established computing research for both practical and theoretical applications. ACM journal editors are thought leaders in their fields, and ACM's emphasis on rapid publication ensures minimal delay in communicating exciting new ideas and discoveries.
